No deep thought this month (or maybe they have never been deep), just practical.  By now, it’s no surprise that there is a lot going on around here…and a lot changing.  In the fall, Children’s Ministry will look completely different.  I want to take a minute (and you should, too) to say thanks to Tammy, Mandy, and their leadership team.  Often times when I leave on Wednesday nights after band rehearsal, the Children’s Ministry team is still here hammering out details.  There’s only one explanation for that…their love for Christ and teaching Christ’s love to our kids.  Thanks guys!  You’re awesome!  I’m excited to see the impact these changes will have on our kids this fall.

Additionally, we will add a third service this fall to accommodate our growth.  We are averaging just over 930 people per Sunday.  That’s an increase of more than 100 people from this same time last year!  God is leading people to Lakota, so we need to do our part to make sure that we are ready.  The services are crowded, particularly the 11:00 service, and that’s a tremendous problem to have.  Beginning September 7, our new service times will be at 8:45, 10:00, and 11:15.

An additional service also means additional volunteers.  In order to pull this off, we need nursery workers, pre-school teachers, greeters, Welcome Center staff, Connection Room hosts/hostesses, ushers, and more.  If ever you have wanted to step up, now’s the time.  We will be working hard between now and September 7 to make sure we’re ready.  WE NEED YOUR HELP!  I hope you’ll consider serving in one of these ministries at 8:45.  And, at the risk of sounding unspiritual, don’t pray about it first.  I’m not one who believes you have to pray about rocking babies, serving communion, and greeting people warmly when they walk through the doors.  It’s really a matter of seeing a need and not waiting for someone else to fill it.  What can YOU do to help us achieve our win of people making Christ the center point of their lives?  This is a good start.  I hope you’ll pick up the towel.
