2010 is off to a great start!  Our average attendance to date is 1022. That is tremendous!  God is doing so many great things in our midst and we are seeing people come to faith and grow in faith.

With all of the excitement that comes with a growing church, there are also challenges.  The biggest challenge in front of us is trying to balance out our three services so that we have space in the parking lot and space in the worship center.

Here are our averages for the three adult worship services:

1st service – 124
2nd service – 340
3rd service – 266

As you can see, our 10:00 hour is significantly more crowded than the other two, which also puts a strain on our parking lot.  This is one of the key reasons we felt it necessary to change our worship times.  An extra 10-15 minutes between services gives people adequate time to pick-up their kids and exit th ... Every year during the last week of December/first week of January, I get on an organizational kick.  I don’t plan it, but I just always feel the need to go through files, purge, and reorganize.  I’m going through our basement right now trying to get rid of junk we don’t need or use.  I just don’t like chaos and so every year at this time, I start cleaning stuff up…which makes my wife and kids very nervous!

The new year just seems like a good time to clean stuff up.  So whether you are one for making resolutions or not, I would challenge you this year to set some spiritual goals for cleaning some stuff up in your walk with Christ.  Just like my basement, it doesn’t take long for stuff to start piling up in our lives to the point where it feels like chaos.  What do you need to purge?  What do you need to get rid of that is pulling you backwards on your journey?  That’s a good question to ask your spouse by the w ... Each month in HighGear, we focus on a different biblical virtue, a quality that reflects something about God’s character that He works to instill in us.  In January, we will teach about “Discipline”.  Discipline is doing what you need to do now so that you can grow stronger.  Sometimes when we think of “discipline”, we imagine sweat and tears and lots of hard work.  We think of “No pain, no gain” or “This hurts me a lot more than it hurts you”.  Instead, discipline should produce a “harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it” (Hebrews 12:11b, NIV).  We will look at the life of Jesus as he is our ultimate role model of discipline.

When your child wants to be better at something, they need to practice more.  It may be on the piano or it may be on the soccer field, but whatever the case may be, it requires work on their part.  If they want to know God better, they will need ... Read More »

We would love for you and your family to participate with us in a time of CELEBRATION. Baby Recognition Celebration is about celebrating a commitment to put God first in your home and to trust in Him as your source of direction as you lead your family and parent your child. It is also a time for you and your spouse to share with your family what is most important to you and to ask them for their prayer and support. We also hope that you will partner with us every Sunday by encouraging your child to fully participate with us as we create environments to lead him or her into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.

In the midst of all that is changing in your home with the addition of your new baby, we invite you to take a moment to focus on what really matters most. No one will have more influence on your child than YOU! We believe that what happens at home is more important than what happens at church. It is our hope that we can partner with you from the very beginning. We want t ... Read More »

When I accepted the role of Senior Minister this past summer, I thought we were going to be in for a long search for a new Worship Minister.  I’ll be honest…I wasn’t looking forward to the process of making phone calls, sifting through resumes, and interviewing candidates.  I had enough to do already and that just seemed too overwhelming to think about.  But thanks to Facebook and networking, I was quickly introduced to several quality candidates.  One rose to the top of the list.  I met with Justin Mosteller in July to see if he would be interested.  Justin has brought his band to Center Pointe on several occasions to lead for our students and also led once on Sunday morning in January, 2007.  Justin is a talented worship leader, and bigger than his talent is his heart for people and his heart for Jesus.  I was disappointed that he said no, but certainly understood.  Louisville was home.  He was close to family ... Thanks to the hard work of many volunteers, we are wrapping up the Student Center project.  Sunday, November 8th @ 10:00 am  is our target to resume our Sunday morning AXIS program for Jr. High & High School students.  There is still a lot of work to be done in order to make it and we can use your help.

Work will be going on Saturday 10/31 beginning @ 9:00 am, Sunday afternoon beginning @ 2:00pm and probably every afternoon / evening next week ... We are also planning to work on Saturday 11/7 starting @ 9:00am... If you have some availability during any of those times we would love to have your help.  The more help we have, the more quickly  and completely we can finish the project and open the space up to all it’s normal ministry groups.  We can use both skilled and unskilled help... KidsPointe Ministry is passionate about partnering the heart of the home (red) with the light of the church (yellow).  The result of combining these 2 colors is ORANGE.  Some of you experienced this at our summer SNL event.    When those 2 powerful influences are combined, the result is high impact for Christ especially on children.  This is why our small group ministry on Sunday mornings is so important.  We want our parents to know that your child has another adult in their life that is pouring all they have to set a Christ like example for their child.  They pray for them, encourage them, and challenge them to develop a deeper relationship with Christ. I have experienced this myself as my own children's small group leaders have made an impact on their life and I am forever grateful.

This is why we have Family Worship Sundays.  You, as the parent, have a chance to model w ... Read More »

It’s been a great kick-off to the fall so far!  I hope that you were as challenged as I was during our Reset series.  It was great to study the first five chapters of Acts together as a church to be refreshed and reminded of what the earliest believers looked like…their authenticity, their generosity, their purpose, their mission, and their commitment to BE the Church of Jesus Christ.  Let’s not settle for just looking like that…let’s BE that!

Starting on October 11, we’re going to switch gears.  These last several weeks have been about who we are corporately as a body of believers.  Over the next several weeks, we’re going to look at who we are individually as committed disciples of Christ.  We’re beginning a new series called Disciple-Ships where we’ll study seven words that end in the word “ship” that help define what a disciple is…Ownership, Worship, Citizenship, Workmanship, Ambassadorship, Studentship, and Relationship. I ... Read More »

KidsPointe Open House During the Month of October

During the month of October, KidsPointe ministry will be hosting a “meet and greet” your child’s small group leader in preschool and elementary.

“The Elementary HighGear Experience”

We want parents to have an opportunity to put a face to their child’s small group’s leader.  Our small group leaders are there to connect with the kids in their group, guide and encourage each one in their faith, and connect peers and help develop life-long relationships.  We know that two combined influences make a greater impact than just two influences.  Take some time to meet your child’s small group leader.  You’ll have an opportunity to learn more about your child’s leader and how to contact them.

In the weeks to follow, parents will receive an invitation in the mail inviting them to come and meet their ch ... Read More »
